In contrast to the Transitional Style of the Apartment as a whole, the clients wanted a Media Wall to have a more Contemporary design. It features fabric upholstered panels with inset ebony-stained oak cabinets & niches, as well as a hidden bar cabinet.

A ‘racetrack’ style Dining Table was sourced from Bradley USA to allow guests comfortable in-and-out access to the banquet bench, customized from TRNK. Dining Chairs from Hellman Chang, and artwork by Keith Haring.
The Entry Foyer features full size wall paneling, chevron-style wood flooring from Madera Surfaces, and Phillip Jeffries covering on the ceiling.

A banquet table arrangement was designed to allow for a space that could function both as a dedicated dining room, but also as a transitional space connecting the Entry Foyer to the Living Area beyond. The Living Room was now twice as large as in the previous apartment design, providing for both formal & grand as well as informal & intimate spaces.

Chevron Pattern oak flooring with a wide-plank border demarcates the Entry Foyer space, and from there, one can circulate forward to the Dining & Living Areas, to the right for the private Bedroom wing of the apartment or to the left into the Kitchen space, shown here.
Every detail matters. The clients loved the the color blue, so the first elements that we designed in the apartment were the kitchen colors & surfaces. ‘Stiffkey Blue’ from Farrow & Ball was selected to complement a beautiful Grigio Scurro slab that we discovered at ABC Stone, and we coordinated the plumbing fixtures from Dornbracht and the cabinet hardware from Waterworks to sync up as well.
Top of the line Wolf & Miele Appliances were used & Engineered White Oak Flooring from Madera Surfaces was chosen for a uniform, continuous surface throughout the Kitchen and into the open spaces beyond.

A key design concept for the apartment was to honor the traditional Upper East Side architecture and design aesthetic while reinterpreting it in a more modern transitional, or occasionally fully contemporary style. In the case of the Guest Bathroom, White Carrara marble was chosen for its classic association with Upper East Side residential design. However, we elevated its use by incorporating unique elements, such as plumbing fixtures that seamlessly integrate Carrara marble into their design.

A final ‘Blue’ feature was customized for the Son’s Bathroom, where we worked with our trusted partners at Chelsea Arts Tile to source and design a bespoke mosaic feature wall out of White Thassos, Carrara Marble, & Blue Celeste to match the special-order 6x12 wall tile. Chips of Bardiglio were used in a random pattern to match the darker floor tile, and the slabs are pure white ‘Nanoglass’. Graff ‘Phase’ Plumbing Fixtures and Accessories were used in a polished chrome finish for a consistent look throughout
